Yet, as we begin 2022 here we are: trying to navigate a ever-changing world. So much has changed. So many have had to make changes. One constant for us all, though? The way that music continues to literally provide the soundtrack of our lives to help us keep going.

Whether you are looking for something to compliment your mood or lift you from where you are, the music that I found in 2021 definitely assisted me along the way. I had hoped to release this music issue to coincide with Grammy week. Due to the pandemic, however, the Grammys were pushed back, so I wanted to make sure I did my part to celebrate the artists that I have loved and believe will be great for your own playlist.

The two artists that really defined great music for me in 2021 are Caleb Lovely and sister-duo Neoni. I am glad to recognize them as our Artists of the Year and to provide a listing of the music I believe shaped 2021 in their own way. You will also find a profile of recording artist Alyst who is doing amazing things right now. I'm excited to see what he has in store for us in 2022.

As we continue to move forward I hope this issue reminds you that though we might seem like things are at a standstill, music is one of those things that keeps the world turning. It can uplift us, motivate us and inspire us as we move forward. All is not lost. As these artists show the best can still be yet to come.

Happy Reading!

Cyrus Webb, Editor-In-Chief

Conversations Magazine/Conversations with Music Magazine/Mississippi Success Magazine

Cyrus Webbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17154925879673119508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142570304023346652.post-10681866731506794452022-02-05T15:27:00.002-08:002022-02-05T15:27:26.499-08:00Recording Artist Alyst: Celebrating a Career that is GLEEMING

by Cyrus Webb

Over the past 18 years I have interviewed hundreds of recording artists. Alyst is without a doubt one of the most passionate I've encountered in that time.

He's an individual who is not trying to be anyone but himself, and he is building a worldwide following that celebrates that. His music resonates with you, and in 2021 he released a song that reflects his journey called GLEEMING.

In this conversation we discuss the road he's traveled and what's to come.

Alyst ,what has it been like for you to reflect on your music career and what you’ve achieve?
It's been a product of believing in something and never giving up. I'm usually so focused on getting better and improving my sound, I forget how far I've come along. But it's one of the best feelings in the world. I can't wait to see how far it goes.

Did you always know that music was something you were meant to do?
I always knew that music and entertainment were something that I wanted to pursue. I come from a musical family. My mom is a singer herself and my dad played with Michael Jackson. I wrote my first song at 12 and haven't stopped from there.

What has it been like for you to go from listening to your favorite artists on the radio or online to now being the artist that people are listening to?
With my sports background, I'm naturally pretty competitive. So to hear myself in the same space as some of my favorite artists gives me even more confidence and motivation.

You’ve also built an audience for yourself. What has that been like for you to see the way your fanbase has grown?
It's still pretty surreal for me to have fans. It's something I've always wanted. Anyone who takes the time to appreciate my art that I put so much into, I never take for granted.

The live performance is normally the best experience for artists and their fans. What is it like for you to be up on stage and feel that energy in the room?
I used to be a top tennis player in the US, and before every match I would get a bit nervous. But when it comes to performing my music, I just dive all the way in. I leave everything out there. As a kid I used to perform in shows as well so it feels natural when I'm on stage.

The pandemic has changed the way artists like yourself have been able to engage. How has social media helped you fill that gap?
Though the pandemic came with its challenges, it's been a good way to connect with people all around the world. I've had the chance to connect with fans, artists, and producers. The pandemic definitely forced me to step my social media game up. So I'd say I've adjusted pretty well.

The single you released in 2021 was GLEEMING. Tell us about it.
Gleeming is about my journey so far in my career. I talk about how I started rapping and very little people believed in me. Now fast forward to 2021, I'm making moves and finally seeing some reward from my hard work and persistence.

With so much in the world still in flux, is there anything you are looking forward to next?
I've got a team behind me and we have a dope vision for some of the other singles I'll be releasing. (As this issue was going to press Alyst released his single GOLD which is already getting radio play.)

With all you have done, how has your idea of what success is for you changed since you first started your music career?
My idea of success hasn't changed a bit. Having the privilege of making music as a career would be success within itself. It wouldn't even be work for me. But my all time goal has always been to win a Grammy.

Alyst, what about your advice for others artists? What would you say to them about pursuing their goals and dreams?
I would tell them that if you truly believe in what you are doing and if it's for the right reasons never, ever quit. Stay focused on what you want and stay true to yourself.

Thanks for the time and continued blessings to you. How can our audience stay connected with you and keep up with what’s to come?
Thank you for the opportunity. There will be those who will doubt you and say what you can't do. Sometimes you might say it to yourself. What Jessica Reedy does in I WILL is remind us that we don't have to listen. "Though I feel weak, something is strong inside of me, " she sings. "So I'm not going to quit. I got something special inside... I won't let fear win."

We all have SOMETHING we are meant to do. It's up to us to get to the business of doing it. With WHEN YOU LOVE ME that is what Caleb Lovely sings about. It's that love that makes you want to throw the hands of time away, enjoying each and every moment.

"I just want to be the only reason for the breath that you take," he proclaims, showing how close he wants them to be. It also shows how sometimes the right relationship will make you believe again. Like an answer to a prayer, love can do things for us that we didn't think possible.

Caleb Lovely's WHEN YOU LOVE ME sums up what a relationship should be.
Cyrus Webbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17154925879673119508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142570304023346652.post-66682281139536878762021-12-07T11:37:00.002-08:002021-12-07T11:37:26.498-08:00[REVIEW] THAT'S MY BABY by Gary "Lil G" Jenkins is that anthem guys want to share with that special lady

As guys we don't always say the things we should or it doesn't come out the way we sometimes want. With THAT'S MY BABY Gary "Lil G" Jenkins shares the words we want to say in just the right way.

The song has a beat that makes you want to move and a message that expresses the truth: sometimes our pride keeps us from saying what's on our heart. He doesn't let that stop him from letting that special lady know he sees her and feels her.

Throughout the song we get a mixture of praise and appreciation as well as acknowledgement when he's done wrong. She's been with him through the good and bad, showing where she stands with him. "That's my baby," he sings, 'my forever love'.

Definitely a song you can put on repeat to dance to or chill to. The guys get the message out that they want, and the ladies get their much-deserved appreciation and praise.
Cyrus Webbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17154925879673119508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142570304023346652.post-17391458132140403472021-12-07T03:17:00.005-08:002021-12-07T03:17:51.443-08:00[REVIEW] With her signature style Ali Caldwell proclaims redemption in TROUBLE TOWN

When I say the name Ali Caldwell the thing that comes to mind is an artist that is able to captivate you with every word. Her latest offering of 2021 TROUBLE TOWN is no different.

Telling a story as only she can, Ali sings about an individual who wants what they had back---realizing they made some bad choices, including stops in 'trouble town'. We can all relate to this---men and women both--- doing things we know weren't right and hoping it's not too late to turn things around.

"I can't take it back, what I did," she confesses, wishing she could rewind it all. The truth is she can't. We can't. Us guys don't always talk about the feelings we have when it comes to relationships. We hurt just like others do, and this song shows that even when we know something is wrong it's hard for us to let it up.

The fact that he is expressing the tug of war of the heart of wanting to be done with the betrayal but still loving the person is so fear. The thing he also says that struck me was IF the person wanted to come back he was open to it! One can judge how wise that might be, but it is still REAL. I've been there, wanting something that no longer served me well.

THE DAY YOU LEFT shows the complicated nature of loving and losing. That is why men and women can relate to it.
Cyrus Webbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17154925879673119508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142570304023346652.post-44188011253387645862021-12-04T12:33:00.003-08:002021-12-04T12:33:47.062-08:00[REVIEW] GOOD 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo is that song about moving on even when you don't want to

The heart is a funny thing, right? Olivia Rodrigo's GOOD 4 U shows that not everyone moves on or heals as quickly as others. It's hard when the person who said they wanted to give you the world is not with someone else. They have moved on, but you are still thinking about what was---and what will now never be.

GOOD 4 U is that tongue and cheek song about someone who is able to do well personally and professionally while you are still trying to pick up the pieces and move forward. You don't really want the other person to hurt. You just wish you didn't have to go through what you're feeling alone.

Then comes the second-guessing: 'Maybe I'm too emotional,' she says, but to him she says, 'Your apathy is like a wound in salt.' The follow-up is the heart-breaking: 'Maybe you never cared at all...' That is a revelation no one wants to come to, but it could be the case.

Relatable and fun, GOOD 4 U is that song about moving on eve when you don't want to.
Cyrus Webbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17154925879673119508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142570304023346652.post-8559560066110517412021-12-04T12:22:00.000-08:002021-12-04T12:22:03.762-08:00[REVIEW] Life is better with new Mary J Blige in your playlist. Blige that are just what we need as we wrap up what's been another extraordinary year.

For her it's about celebration each and every day, not waiting on a birthday or special event. "I feel good, I feel great, man I feel amazing..." those are the words we should look in the mirror and repeat to ourselves and then to others. Life is too short not to appreciate the day and to encourage the positive vibes, avoiding the negativity.

"Every day celebrate not just on occasion," she encourages. That is just what we need to do as we look at the blessings we have and not at what it seems as though we don't have.

From beginning to end this song makes you move. Better days are coming."

The light at the end of the tunnel is something we can keep pushing towards, and if we do we will get to the other side of whatever challenge or obstacle we are facing.

Love the messaging of this song, and the fact that it speaks to you on so many different levels. No matter how dark things might seem BETTER DAYS are ahead. Don't give up before you reach them.
Cyrus Webbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17154925879673119508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142570304023346652.post-67254705461612527972021-12-04T01:39:00.000-08:002021-12-04T01:39:00.000-08:00[REVIEW] Hands down Neoni's PARANOIA goes hard. Paranoia is another example of their ability to make you feel something with every line. Love how this song just sneaks up on you, delivering strong vocals and a beat that keeps you moving.

And let's not forget the words. I think we can all agree that there's more than a little bit of paranoia in the world right now. We gotta get past that, but it makes for a great song. :-) You can't hide from this one. PARANOIA comes for you hard. A great way to begin my music catalog in 2021.
Cyrus Webbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17154925879673119508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142570304023346652.post-9478218995691449322021-12-04T01:36:00.001-08:002021-12-04T01:36:21.020-08:00[REVIEW] Neoni's WHERE WE RISE shows that when the chips are down we keep moving forward

This is a serious question: Can Neoni do anything wrong with it comes to music?

Every song they have put out has been a banger, and WHERE WE RISE is no different.
